PERTHSHIRE FIELDS I
AVAILABLE - 50 x 40 CM (19 3/42 X 15 3/4") Acrylic on Canvas. Driving north from Perth, towards Blairgowrie, one evening in late summer, this view of the sun going down behind the distant hills was quite dramatic. This was my memory of that journey.

PERTHSHIRE FIELDS II
AVAILABLE 50 x 40 CM (19 3/42 X 15 3/4") Acrylic on Canvas. The Carse of Gowrie stretches east of Perth, along the river Tay towards Dundee. The light is almost always soft here, filtering gently over the river and the ploughed rich farmland.

Sketchbook Ideas and Development.
Playing around with ideas and colours is an important part of my work. A sketchbook allows me to make decisions, early on, in the development process about composition, colours, textures, mark making etc and helps me avoid costly mistakes with the final piece.

Sketchbook Exploration
Playing around with strong colour and pattern, in a grid format in my sketchbook, just seeing what occurs. something good usually comes out of these and some of this will appear in a painting at a later date.
